GOP Hopes To Use State-Level Gains To Propel Conservative Social Issues

Republicans hope to capitalize on their majorities in 26 state legislatures to advance conservative policies on contraception, sex education, abortion rights and other social issues, the Washington Post reports. Prior towards the midterm elections, Democrats controlled 27 state legislatures. Now, Democrats’ manage has dropped to 17, whilst five states are split and New York officials are still determining which party has the majority inside the state Senate.

Antiabortion-rights advocates expect several Republican-led states to consider banning some private health insurance plans from covering abortion services, taking advantage of a provision inside the federal health reform law (PL 111-148) that allows states to restrict such coverage. Arizona, Missouri, Mississippi, Tennessee and Louisiana have passed similar measures.

Daniel McConchie, vice president of governmental affairs for Americans United for Life, said, “Ninety-nine percent of pro-life legislations happens at the state level, so the landscape change that we have now is huge.’

In North Carolina, liberal groups are bracing to defend a law that requires most students in grades seven through nine to learn about both contraception and abstinence. Meanwhile, Christian groups plan to push for increased restrictions on abortion and a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage.

In Wisconsin, Gov.-elect Scott Walker (R) will be buoyed by the new Republican-led Legislature in his opposition towards the state’s recent expansion of a no-cost birth manage program for low-income teens and adults (Somashekhar, Washington Post, 11/21).

Discovery Of Thai Fetuses Spurs Calls For Reassessment Of Abortion Laws

Last week’s discovery of about 2,000 fetuses on the grounds of a Buddhist temple in Bangkok has ignited a debate over Thailand’s abortion policies, the New York Times reports. The fetuses are believed to have been sent from illegal abortion clinics. Two undertakers and a woman who confessed to delivering fetuses have been arrested. After the discovery of the buried fetuses, police said raids uncovered 20 clinics that were performing illegal abortions.

In the predominantly Buddhist country, abortion is only legal in cases of rape, incest or life endangerment. Performing the procedure illegally carries a penalty of up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $330. The penalty increases if the procedure seriously injures the woman (Mydans, New York Times, 11/21).

The discovery with the fetuses led to calls for stricter abortion laws. Based on the Times, most Thai people are conservative about sexual issues. Many advocates say young people are not nicely informed about sexuality and birth manage, despite its wide availability. Public Wellness Minister Jurin Laksanavisith said one million Thai ladies become pregnant annually, 60,000 of whom expertise miscarriages and 80,000 of whom obtain legal abortions. He did not give an estimate with the number of illegal abortions (Mydans, New York Times, 11/20).

Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said on Saturday, “Longstanding social values must be corrected.” He added that the current laws on abortion are “flexible enough,” and that the “problem lies in society’s values which require study and fostering appropriate values among at-risk groups.”

Several Buddhist officials have spoken about the situation and have announced that a cleansing ceremony will take place at the temple next weekend. One official said the ceremony would be similar to ceremonies of mourning. Phramaha Vudhijaya Vajiramedhi, a leading monk, said, “In Buddhist view, both having an abortion and performing an abortion amount to murder.” He said, “It is a serious sin,” adding, “Those involved in abortions will face distress in both this life and the next because their sins will follow them” (New York Times, 11/21).

Confusion Persists Over Pope’s Condom Remarks

Healthcare Prof:

Pope Benedict XVI’s recent remarks about condom use as a moral alternative to prevent HIV transmission in some cases have caused “widespread confusion” among the Catholic church hierarchy and HIV/AIDS advocates, the New York Times reports.

In a book released on Tuesday, the pope said that condoms were not “a real or moral solution” towards the HIV epidemic, which “can really lie only in a humanization of sexuality.” However, “there may be a basis inside the case of some individuals, as perhaps when a male prostitute uses a condom, where this may be a first step inside the direction of a moralization, a first assumption of responsibility,” the pope added (Donadio, New York Times, 11/23).

According towards the Washington Post, the discussion surrounding the pope’s remarks has focused on his example of sex workers. Some argue that his example of men who have sex with men was a way for the pope to “sidestep” the concern of condoms as contraception, which the church has long opposed, the Post reports (Boorstein/Wan, Washington Post, 11/23).

Vatican spokesperson Rev. Federico Lombardi told reporters on Tuesday that he asked Benedict no matter whether his comments referred to men only and was told that the gender of the sex worker did not matter. The pope said the important thing is that the intent is for the person to take responsibility and consider another’s life, in accordance with Lombardi (AP/Miami Herald, 11/23).

Advocates, Church Officials Conflicted

The church has tried to play down the pope’s remarks, noting that the comments do not change official Catholic teaching. Lombardi said on Sunday that the remarks were the first such comments “from the mouth of a pope” but that they were “not a revolutionary turn.” However, Lombardi’s “clarification yielded more ambiguity” over how church officials and HIV/AIDS advocates ought to interpret the remarks, the Times reports.

Many HIV/AIDS advocates saw the pope’s remarks as positive development. Michel Sidib??, executive director of UNAIDS, said the remarks are “a significant and positive step forward taken by the Vatican,” adding, “This move recognizes that responsible sexual behavior and the use of condoms have important roles in HIV prevention” (Donadio, New York Times, 11/23).

Some moderate and liberal Catholics say the pope’s remarks might pave the way for further discussion of exceptions for condom use, possibly even as birth control, the Post reports. Sister Carol Taylor, a clinical nurse and bioethics researcher at Georgetown University, said, “Until now, the church has never condoned the use of condoms to prevent sexually transmitted [infections].” She added, “This on its own doesn’t change anything, but it could open the door to lead to other exceptions towards the church’s stance on condoms.”

One potential exception would be for “discordant couples,” those in a monogamous, heterosexual relationship in which one partner is HIV-positive and wants to use condoms to prevent transmission (Washington Post, 11/23).

Other commentators said the reaction was overblown. George Weigel, a biographer of Pope John Paul II, wrote on the National Review Online that a “false assumption beneath the condom story is that all papal statements of whatever sort are equal, such that an interview is an exercise of the papal teaching magisterium” (Donadio, New York Times, 11/23).

New USCCB Leader Discusses Condoms, Health Reform Law

In an interview with the New York Times last week, newly elected U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops President Timothy Dolan said the pope’s comments do not reverse the church’s teachings on condoms. Dolan, archbishop of New York, said the pope did not advocate condom use and that the church cannot simply change its teaching on the problem. “You get the impression that the Holy See or the pope is like Congress and every single once in a although says, ‘Oh, let’s change this law,’” Dolan said, adding, “We can’t.”

The interview touched on several other topics, including whether USCCB will support Republican efforts to repeal the federal well being reform law (PL 111-148). The bishops opposed the final version of the law, arguing that it allows federal funding for abortion services. However, Dolan said the bishops must be “great cheerleaders” for the expansion of well being coverage. He added that they could possibly support a “refinement” with the law and did not know yet if USCCB would advocate a complete “overthrow” (Goodstein, New York Times, 11/23).

Toronto Star Explores Shortage Of Abortion Providers In Canada

Healthcare Prof:

Article Opinions:3 posts
A recent Toronto Star investigation revealed a shortage of abortion providers in Canada, where fears of violence, lack of training and other obstacles prevent physicians from providing the procedure. Abortion was legalized in Canada more than 20 years ago, and it remains one of the most common medical procedures for women, with about one in four Canadian ladies undergoing the procedure inside her lifetime. There were about 91,377 abortions — about 25 for each and every 100 live births — in Canada in 2006, the last year for which national data are available.

There have been no major incidents of violence against Canadian abortion providers since 1995. However, a 2010 survey by the Abortion Rights Coalition of Canada discovered 21 of the country’s 33 abortion clinics — including hospital and free-standing facilities — were experiencing some degree of protest activity, and 16 reported that the protests negatively affect patients and staff.

No Canadian organization tracks the number of abortion providers, but those within the field say the decline in providers is similar towards the situation inside the U.S., where the number of providers has dropped by 40% since the early 1980s. A 2006 Canadians for Choice report located that 16% of the country’s hospitals provide abortion services, which is nearly 2% much less than in 2003. Since 2006, at least five other hospitals have notified the group that they no longer have doctors willing to provide abortions.

The country’s largest cities, such as Toronto or Vancouver, have sufficient numbers of providers, but many other areas face a severe shortage, especially rural areas. For instance, Kelowna, British Columbia, has 120,000 residents but no abortion provider, although ladies in Ottawa, Peterborough and Sarnia have to wait up to six weeks for an abortion. Based on the Star, most of Canada’s abortions are performed before 12 weeks’ gestation, whilst 9% are performed between 12 weeks and 20 weeks. A shortage of doctors willing to perform abortions later in pregnancy is an “added complication” towards the country’s growing shortage of abortion providers, the Star reports.

Another factor that contributes to Canada’s declining number of abortion providers is the lack of medical school curricula on abortion and reproductive health services. Based on a 2009 survey published inside the journal Contraception, 67% of Canadian medical schools included abortion as a sexual and reproductive well being topic in preclinical courses. About 50% of Canada’s ob-gyn programs routinely included abortion in their training, and a minority of students felt competent in performing the procedure, in accordance with a 2006 study published within the journal Obstetrics and Gynecology. The study also identified that more residents would go on to be providers if they attended programs that integrated abortion training.

An abortion provider in Ontario, who declined to use his real name, said the lack of abortion training in medical school programs is actually a major reason for Canada’s shortage of abortion providers. The physician said, “Providers recognize that we are couple of and far between,” adding, “This is an essential service for ladies, and unless we are proactive in recruiting and educating young doctors within the area of abortion provision, we will not be able to offer girls a safe and sensitive abortion service” (Ogilvie, Toronto Star, 11/20).

Through it All…Ch.7 – Story

Tree, tree, home, tree, tree, tree, home, residence. I stared out the window as the bus moved to the subsequent stop. A few minutes later, it screeched and came to a halt. The doors opened and students began piling in. I ignored them, took out my ipod, and turned on a random song. Just the Way You Are by Bruno Mars played. I started to let the music flow and surround me, until some big guy paused correct next to my seat.

“Mind if I sit here?” the guy type of had a deep voice.
“Uh, yeah, confident,” I seriously didn’t care who the guy was. I slid my black backpack on top of my lap and he sat down next to me. After some seconds, the song I was listening to came to an end and a different song started playing. I followed the rhythm and started to calm down a bit. This was just what I needed after that horrible nightmare. I let the song take more than me and relaxed.

“Hey, do you realize where Room 343 is?” the guy asked after tapping me on the shoulder, interrupting the flow.
“Yeah, I do.” I replied in a dull voice, not wishing to be bothered. I changed the song on my ipod. The guy did not speak for several seconds.
“Well…” he started.
“Well, what?” I tried to focus back on my ipod and the music that was playing.
“Well, can you tell me exactly where it is?” He obviously didn’t get the hint that I did not want to speak.
“I can.” I simply replied. Once more, he paused, waiting for far more.
“Where is it?” he asked. I lifted up my head from my ipod and glanced at his face. It looked strangely familiar. He was tall, had brown hair, green eyes…
“It’s upstairs, near the front entrance.” I hoped he would quit talking. I focused back on the song playing. Lalalala… I expected him to say some thing. Thankfully, he didn’t. For the rest of the ride, I sunk into the music and finally relaxed.

As the bus neared the school building, I put my ipod back into my backpack. The bus stopped and the driver opened the doors. They strangely looking familiar guy stood up and followed behind the other kids. I stepped in after him and finally got off the bus. I stomped all the technique to the double doors, nonetheless in a bad mood. My steps got interrupted with an additional tap on my shoulder. I turned around and saw that it was the exact same guy on the bus.
“What?” I turned around and continued walking, but slower.
“Where’s room 343 from here?” he asked.
“You know, considering that I’m going there proper now anyway, I’ll just show you.” Hopefully, he would stop asking me questions.
“Ok, I’ll just follow you.” he smiled, like he just achieved some thing.
“Great…” I frowned and continued walking.

I climbed up the stairs and he trudged along.
“So, you have American History initial too?” the guy asked. There he went again, breaking the good peace and quiet.
“Yeah,” I said, “I’m guessing you’ll be in my class?”
“Yeah, I guess I will.” he said playfully.

A long hallway came into view and Room 343 was on the left side of the hallway. I went up to the door, opened it, and walked in.

“Good morning, Lia.” my teacher, Mrs. Quinn stated.
“Hello” I replied.
“Ah, you must be the new student, Chris.” my teacher looked in the guy/new student behind me and gestured him more than to her desk to go more than some assignments and guidelines.

Chris… Chris… Chris… It was the guy that Kathy pointed out yesterday during lunch! This was fantastic, now Kathy was going to freak that her crush was within the exact same class as her. I couldn’t wait for her super excitement. Yay… I went over to my seat, inside the back, and waited for Kathy to come in.

The door soon opened, revealing Kathy and my friend, Rebecca. They were talking about yesterday’s homework and how hard it was to answer the last question. And just as expected, Kathy stopped dead in her tracks as she saw Chris, the guy of her life. She ran over to me and gripped with my left arm with both her hands.

“Is that who I believe it is?” she asked, not caring that my arm was about to fall off. I struggled to release my arm from her tight grasp.
I laughed.”Yeah, that’s him.”
“OMG!” was all she stated back as she intensely watched him nod his head and smile in the teacher. She looked like a stalker.
“Is that the guy you were telling me about?” Rebecca chimed in. “I heard he’s really popular with everyone, particularly the girls.” Kathy frowned a small and I laughed. She constantly made me laugh even if she didn’t me too. Kathy gave me a playful glare and went to her seat as the bell rang. Students started piling inside and going to their designated desks. I took out my books and notes and waited for class to begin.
————————————————————————————–
History class was over and now was the time for… Biology… darn it. That meant I would have to face that evil jerk once more. With that thought in mind, I forced my feet to move and off I went to the Bio lab.

When I came in, practically every person was there. I quickly hopped to my seat and sat down. The bell rang and the room quieted down.
“Now, class, today we will be starting a project. The partner list is posted on board. Get with your partner and start working!” Mrs. Hare exclaimed. I dreadfully walked up to the front of the classroom and skimmed down the partner list. Lia Ha… Lia Ha.. Lia Ha… and… Samuel…Hong. Of course, she just had to pair everybody up in alphabetical order. Feeling depressed along with a bit frustrated, I picked up my pencil and notes and joined Samuel at the table he was sitting at.

“Hi,” he said, like he was expecting me for a lengthy time, “you’re my partner?” Correct, like he did not already know.
“Yeah, I am.” I put on a dull face and sat on a stool. I couldn’t bring myself to face him directly, so I just stared at the guidelines sheet placed correct in front of me. It said that with a partner (unfortunately), I was supposed to make a poster about cells and the functions for each of the organelles (whatever that was). To obtain began, I took out a piece of blank paper and started planning.
“So, what are we supposed to do?” Samuel asked stupidly, just as I drew a faint line on my sheet.
“We’re supposed to make a poster…” I muttered. Couldn’t he just read the instructions himself?
“Okay.” he played with all the mouse on the computer that we were supposed to utilize for research.

Meanwhile, I drew some lopsided cells and some tiny blobs to represent the organelles. Then, I drew boxes for where the text would go on the poster. I added the “finishing” touches, and named Samuel to check it more than.

“What are these items supposed to be?” he questioned the second he looked in the paper.
Me and my angry self stated “They’re supposed to represent cells and organelles. The rectangles are supposed to be where we’re going to put the writing in.”
“You call these cells?” he insulted, pointing at my sloppily drawn cells. “They look much more like a fat person’s head.” I growled silently as he laughed. I was about to snap back at him, but then I remembered the nightmare I had last night.
“Fine,” I replied, keeping myself cool and calm, “you draw and show it to me tomorrow.” And just like that, I trotted off to my desk as he stared at me dumbfounded, the sheet of paper nonetheless in his hand. The bell rang loudly and I picked up my belongings and left the classroom.

As the seconds ticked away, I made it to my English class just on time. I made my method to my seat in the back and saw Samuel sitting there with a big smile on his face. How did he get there so fast?

“You know,” he started to say. After a long pause, he resumed. “You’re drawings are truly bad!” Just by saying that, he chuckled to himself.
“Well, I’m glad they are so funny to you.” I ignored his rude remark and focused on finishing the last paragraph of my essay. Just one more hour and his voice and face would not bother me anymore. Or until the end of lunch, a minimum of.

“Ok. Sorry.” Samuel sarcastically apologized, nonetheless laughing. “What I meant to say was, are you free on Saturday?”
“No.” I immediately blurted out. “Why?”
“Because… Our bio project is due genuinely soon, so we ought to work on it more than the weekend.”
I believed about it and realized that what he said was accurate. I had no other choice but to say “Fine. This Saturday.”
He beamed and answered “Great! We’ll work on it at my residence. I’ll email you the address.”
Before I could protest and say something against it, the teacher started his lesson.

Starting Fresh – Chapter 1 – Story

It was the last day of summer. I placed the last moving box in the trunk prior to closing it. I turned and faced the posse that had gathered to bid farewell to me. I looked at the mansion I was leaving, the one I had grown up in, the 1 I had been happy and innocent in. I hugged all my friends, and faced Daniel, my newly-ex boyfriend.

“I?m sorry.” I whispered as I hugged him. I had called it quits after my brother died and my mom left.

“It?s okay.” He replied. I kissed his cheek, as a tear rolled down mine.

I gave them all a group hug, and then got within the moving truck. Goodbye, Miami, I thought as my dad began the engine. We had been moving to some town far away, where my dad could transfer.

The drive was long. My dad and I had kept a nice conversation going easily, because we were always close, and recent events drove us even closer.

“How are you feeling with almost everything?” He asked me on a far more serious note.

“I miss Sam.” Sam was my older brother who was killed in Iraq during crossfire. “Mom, she just packed her bags and left. What am I supposed to think? I?m just so confused and I miss both of them so significantly. And now we?re leaving every thing that was ever familiar to me.” I answered.

My dad sighed. “Carter, I know this is hard for you. I just thought that maybe if we moved away from almost everything, it?d be simpler. It?s going to take some time to obtain used to me and you alone, although.”

“Yeah, I understand. A minimum of Uncle Joe and Aunt Riley are up there, and we have to pick Lucky up from them.” Lucky was my puppy, and she had gone up early to avoid the lengthy drive.

We listened to the radio, sang along, stopped to refuel, and then we finally reached our new residence, which was six states up from home. My aunt and uncle were already there, waiting with Lucky. I ran more than and picked Lucky up, who immediately began to lick my face. I laughed and set her down, ahead of returning to help unload all the boxes. We eventually got all of them inside the home, and I took the ones that I required one of the most up into a room that I designated as mine. After that, I went back down with Lucky?s leash.

“Dad, I?m taking Lucky out for a walk.” I referred to as.

“Alright, be back soon. Call me in the event you have any issues.” He said.

I went outside and began jogging with Lucky. She seemed to know exactly where she wanted to go. Fifteen minutes later, we were at a beach. It reminded me of house, how we had a beach so close. I knew Lucky loved running on the sand, so I jogged into the beach with her. Sand flowed onto my lavender flip-flops, and I was homesick. We ran into an additional dog, and Lucky began barking. I tugged on the leash.

“Come on, girl. Come on. Lucky, let?s go.” I said, looking at the owner of the other dog. He was tugging on his dog?s leash too. I smiled apologetically, and he smiled back.

“Are you new?” He asked.

“Yeah, I just moved up here today, actually.” I replied.

“What grade are you going to be in?” He asked.

“I’ll be a senior.” I answered.

“Same. What’s your dog’s name?” He asked.

“Her name’s Lucky. What about yours?”

“His name is Stewie. My name’s Spencer.”

“I’m Carter.” I stated, pulling my telephone out to look at the time.

“Um, it is good to meet you, Spencer, but I got to obtain back.” I said, tugging gently on Lucky’s leash until she finally gave in using a tiny whine.

“I’ll see you at school.” He said, smiling.

“Yeah, I guess.” I answered, walking away.

Eventually, I found my way back to the residence. Lucky was happy again and followed me up to our new room. Her doggy bed was already set up, and she curled up in it, watching me. I smiled, prior to grabbing my items and going into the bathroom. I got prepared for bed and went to sleep, nervous for my first day at a new school as a senior.

As I was walking down the dull corridor after the encounter with Blaze, something caught my eye from the bulletin board. Then an idea genuinely struck me and I believed Blaze was going to be sorry he ever doubted or messed with me. Fuck that, the whole school was going to be sorry. I ran down the hallway to the fitness center and ignored the stares of some and the wolf-whistling from some guys.

?Hey Mar-iah!? shouted Lily as I was hurrying to the gym, but when I heard her voice I stopped full force and spun 180 degrees to face her. I faked a smile and said, ?Yeah??

?So how did your meeting with all the principle go?? she asked, with emphasis on ?meeting?.
I smirked and stated, ?It went excellent! He gave me a warning and let me off due to the fact it was my very first day and I promised not to hurt any person in ?the school?s premises?, do you know what that means Lily?? I knew she knew what it meant.
I couldn?t touch her in school but outside of school? Properly let?s just say that was a different story.

By then Blaze walked subsequent to her looking a bit pained and I snickered and stated, ?Hey, maybe you could play nurse and attend to your boyfriend? It looks like he?s in pain to me!? I shouted so every person inside the hallway heard and they started laughing and pointing at them. Blaze turned red from anger and embarrassment. For a second I was scared but the emotion went as quickly as it came.

?What the hell?? Lily asked, confused. I looked up towards the patterned ceiling, impatient. Was she really this dumb? Then I smirked, evilly and stated to Blaze, ?Do you need a replay so your girlfriend understands??
Almost immediately his hands went to his area in fear and I grinned and suddenly men and women began gathering when I saw realization cross Lily?s features and she shrieked. ?What the fuck? You did that to him? You?re going down bitch!? I suddenly saw Blaze?s and Lily?s friends surrounding us.

Suddenly the coach came out of the locker rooms and saw us all and shouted, ?Alright people, knock it off, and come on, out of the way!? He boomed. The crowd disappeared and Coach Henderson strode towards us. ?Will anybody care to tell me what?s going on here?? He looked at all three of us ahead of I said, ?It was a huge misunderstanding, but we had been sorting it out before you arrived, Coach?, I lied smoothly. Coach raised his eyebrows but nodded believing me and I then said, ?Actually, I was on my technique to speak to you, could I have a moment in private, sir??

The coach nodded and said, ?Yes, of course, you two off you go property, and come this way Mariah?. I was a bit taken aback. He knew my name? Huh. Blaze and Lily nodded and Blaze sent me a warning look before intertwining his hand with Lily?s and walking off. I followed Coach Henderson through the locker rooms towards his workplace and sat within the brown leather chair opposite from his and looked around. There had been trophy?s of different sorts in one glass cupboard and medals where pinned to the walls in addition to class photographs.

Coach cleared his throat to obtain my attention and I dragged my gaze back to his and said, ?How do you know my name?? He grinned and stated,
?Well, I bear in mind you, back then when you wanted to try out for the team and I knew you were full of bottled up spirit waiting to be spilled and it spilled out just before you left in assembly and I can see you?ve used your inner energy now. You usually had it in you Mariah, I saw it, you saw it and now it is possible to show everybody else it? he smiled a crinkly eyed smile. I took in everything he stated and explained, ?Nicely, okay but that?s not what I truly wanted to know,? he nodded for me to continue, ?I?m here for this?.

I opened my black backpack and showed him the flyer. He raised his eyebrows and began to speak but I cut him off.

?No, I know you?re going to say that I can?t join simply because it?s a boy?s soccer team but I’ve an idea. I was hoping to have my own soccer team for girls and I know that you make believe I wouldn?t be able to do it but, I would because I practiced at my old California school and I could genuinely do it. Should you could just give me a chance and there can be a girls? champion game coming up in four months and if we don?t location third at the least then it is possible to quit the soccer team for girls. All I?m asking is for one chance?, I pleaded, hopeful.

?I?m sorry Miss Blackbird but there is no way possible that it is possible to get any of these girls to shape up in just four months?, Coach said, unhappily.

?I just want 1 chance, a minimum of to prove you wrong?, I said, begging, nonetheless. Coach shook his head and opened his mouth but was cut of by a hoarse voice behind me. I glanced over my shoulder briefly, the Principle.

?I think we need to give the girl a chance and you know there is an open slot for an afterschool activity, so this can be it. You realize as well as I do, that we can easily set 1 up, correct Coach Henderson?? He asked, tilting his head. Coach Henderson rubbed is forehead and sighed just before nodding and I jumped up and said,

?So is that is a yes?? I stated with so much excitement I was bouncing up and down. The principle watched me carefully prior to he nodded and held up his hand, to quit my excited outburst prior to it could come out.

?If?you’ll be able to get 12 other players before this Friday and train them, it is possible to be their full coach but you would nonetheless have to participate. Am I clear?? He asked, tilting his head.

?Crystal clear, sir, thank you! You won?t regret this decision!? I squealed ahead of bouncing away, humming happily to myself. I decided I required to make a notice of tryouts for the girls? soccer team so I headed to the hallway. I eased my way around the other students ignoring their curious looks as I grinned happily to myself and I pushed the wooden double doors open to reveal the library. It was huge, I?m no bookworm but this location had a sense of ease and peace.

As I made my technique to the computer area, I spotted a familiar face lurking by the corner of the library checking out a book. Jason. Uneasiness settled in my stomach, but I pushed it aside and walked towards Jason to say Hello. I tapped him lightly on the shoulder and he turned halfway to look at me before turning his muscled physique all the way. Did I mention he had muscles?

Grinning, he said, ?Stalking me now Mariah? Not a very good impression?, he chuckled. I slapped his muscled arm lightly and said, ?You wish?, and laughed wholeheartedly but frowned. He noticed my expression and led us to a table near by.

?What?s wrong?? He asked, frowning slightly at my expression but fell on the floor laughing when he heard my answer.

?It?s not funny, I?m telling you, your muscles are really hard, like actually muscle-y?, this, of course, just made him laugh more.

?You?re-basically-in-a-mood-because of-my-muscles!? He chocked out, still laughing whilst I stood there extremely annoyed.
?Nicely I don?t like men and women being stronger than me?, I muttered and he stopped laughing and stood up with his hands out in surrender just before murmuring, ?I?m sorry?.

Nevertheless he still grinned and said, ?You realize it is possible to do a good deal with muscles, issues that require speed and momentum?, he raised his eyebrows up and down suggestively and I just shook my head. It was amazing how properly we could talk to each and every other, like we hadn?t just met.
?So what brings you here? To the forbidden sanctuary of the nerdary?? He cocked his eyebrow as he asked this question. My eyebrows furrowed.
?Nerdary?? I asked, confused.

He nodded and stated, ?It?s basically nerd and library put together, so, what are you doing here??
?I?m just generating some girls soccer notices, since I?m starting up my own team. I already talked to Coach Henderson and he let me, if I am able to get 12 other players and train them in time to compete?. I bit my lip nervously, what if I didn?t get many men and women? Warmth covered my hand and I looked down to see Jason?s hand covering mine. He stared at me ahead of saying,

?Don?t worry, you?ll get your twelve players, you?ll be fine, I?m positive if you ask 1 of the girls, they would help you?, he reassured me.

?Thanks but who would join, won?t some men and women uncover me a bit weird?, I asked. Jason scoffed and said, ?Weird, no, they will uncover a beautiful girl, with spirit and enough passion to do what she wants and doesn?t take shit from others, and do you realize who would join you?? I shook my head at him as an answer.

He whispered in my ear, ?Lily haters?, he grinned softly just before kissing my cheek and walking away with his book in 1 hand and the other in his pocket. I bit my lip and chuckled, softly touching the cheek where he had kissed me.

I truly was starting to like Jason.

Finding Love Through Lies (Chapter 7) – Story

Jeremy?s POV

When the bell finally rang to signal school being more than, I walked slowly, nervously, to the gym where I knew Courtney would be warming up for practice. As I approached the door Jennifer ran out past me. I couldn?t help but believe she was mad at me, but maybe she just had a bad day?.Either way, I had much more important points to worry about correct now.
I walked into the fitness center and saw Courtney standing in a group with her pals. I went and sat inside the bleachers. She didn?t notice me right off, but I wanted her too get to practice. We had been pretty good friends last year, very good enough for me to know that she loved dancing; far more than something. The coach walked in, and known as the girls into formation.

Then Jennifer walked back in. “Sorry I?m late, I just required some air.” She said quietly and got in formation along using the rest of the team. The coach just nodded understandingly in response to her. The music began, it was the song “Always” by Blink-182, which was possibly chosen by Jennifer. As the music continued, all the girls started dancing, and I think Jennifer was the only one who noticed me in the audience. It looked like she was holding back tears. I watched Courtney as she danced; she was amazing. She had natural talent that had been improved through practice. I compared her to the other girls, Jennifer was good but it was obvious she hadn?t practiced nearly as much. Courtney was clearly the most effective, by far.

When the song ended, Jennifer went up to the coach, glanced at me, then went to the locker room. Courtney saw me and paused, “Hey, coach, Can I take a fast break? Just 5 minutes please,” she asked. The coach nodded and Courtney ran up the bleachers and sat by me, “Hey, how are you?” she asked innocently. “I?m excellent I guess. Can we just talk about what you need to say please.” I said attempting not to be rude, but wanting her to get to the point.

“Ok, look?I?m in adore with you. That?s the first thing I desire to say, the second thing is,” She paused and looked away. When I was about to talk, she started to continue, “is that I?m pregnant.” She stated apprehensively with tears in her eyes. I pulled her into a hug and said, “It?s going to be ok.”
Jennifer walked out of the locker room. When she got to the door to exit the fitness center, she turned and looked at me, I could see the hurt in her eyes. Then she left, and I didn?t follow her.

Jennifer?s POV
When I left the fitness center, after seeing Jeremy with Courtney, I called Jay. “Will you please pick up Ellie,” I begged him, holding back my tears. “Of course, what?s wrong?” He asked just by hearing my voice. “I can?t speak about it proper now. I?m going to obtain a ride from Ashley, and go to Jeremy?s and get Ellie?s stuff and mine. Then I?ll go get a hotel room. Do you want to come too?” I asked. “Yeah, how about you ask Ashley to get Ellie and watch her for a bit, I?ll come get you and we can get all of our stuff.” He proposed. I agreed and hung up the telephone. I texted Ashley, my best friend, and asked her to pick up Ellie. She replied saying she was on her way there, so I sat on the curb and waited for Jay.

Jay?s POV
I went straight to the school after Jennifer called. She was sitting on the curb, and stood up when she saw my automobile. When I stopped she crawled in the front seat, and stared straight ahead. I knew far better than to attempt and comfort her appropriate now. She looked devastated. Prior to driving away, I texted Jeremy saying, “I can?t believe you.” I didn?t wait or him to text back, and threw my telephone within the back seat.
Jennifer didn?t say something to me throughout the vehicle ride, or when we got to Jeremy?s house. She went directly upstairs, so I didn?t push her. I could tell she wanted to get out of there as fast as she could. I grabbed my suitcase that I hadn?t unpacked, then went and grabbed Ellie?s stuff. I put almost everything in the vehicle, and went to help Jennifer.

In less than 10 minutes, we had been back within the automobile going to a hotel. Jennifer still hadn?t spoken, so I had to say some thing. “Dad?s getting here tomorrow, so we need to be moving into the house on Saturday.” I stated and Jennifer just looked at me. Then she broke down. “H-how could h-he d-do this t-to-to m-m-me?” She stuttered between sobs. I put my arm over her shoulder, “I don?t know, but he will pay for this.” I stated angrily and kept driving.
Right when we got to the hotel, Jennifer?s phone rang, “Will you answer please,” she stated hesitantly handing me the phone. It was Ashley, I told her I?d pick Ellie up in 20 minutes and hung up. “You can stay here, I?ll take everything inside and register. Then I?ll come back and give you the key, so I can go choose up Ellie. Even though I?m gone it is possible to get us a pizza or something to eat.” I stated and left the car.

Jeremy?s POV
I drove Courtney home after she finished practice, and stayed at her home for a couple of minutes. We nonetheless necessary to finish talking. “So exactly where does this leave us?” She asked as biting into an apple. “Well, I think we should take everything one step at a time. I desire to try and work things out between us, but initial we have to deal with a lot more important points. Do your parents know?” I asked. “My mom does, and I need to keep the baby. I?d like for it to have parents that are together, so I?d like to work items out between us. Do you think we could try dating?” She responded although looking in my eyes.

Jennifer?s POV
When Jay got back to the hotel, I had Chinese food set out on the table. Ellie came running in and I hugged her. “After you eat, in the event you do your homework, how would you like to?.Go Swimming?” I asked her excitedly. “Yeah!” She yelled giving me a hug. These are the moments I live for, with her in my arms, everything seems happier, brighter, and just far better. I sighed as she sat down and began eating. I just watched her eat; I wasn?t hungry after everything that had happened recently. As the night went by, I was zombie-like. Jeremy kept filling my head, and I kept wondering what was going on, but I nonetheless didn?t call him. It wasn?t worth it. I already knew the answer in my heart.

Last few weeks have gone by 1 day at a time. Jackson?s dad calls him every night to talk bout school and he nonetheless doesn?t speak to his mom a lot. But for some reason he has been acting a little to ?cool? about it. He used to be so sweet but lately he has been acting like he doesn?t care bout me and I’m just his ?girl?.
