Can you go to Canada with a U.S citizen certificate?

If you don’t have a passport can you visit canada with a U.S citizen certificate instead. Or is their a hotline I can call to confirm this?
Thank-you!

Not anymore, passports or an enhanced driver’s license are the only forms of ID that is accepted to cross the border. If you have children, then their birth certificate should be fine, but expect tougher questioning.

Yes you can but only if its folded inside your passport.Sorry, but thats the way it is.Its not that we care all that much about a passport but the US authorities insist you have it to get back therefore we make you have it to get into Canada otherwise we’d have a whole bunch of stranded American’s over here.

Passport. Or a special sort of driver’s license (used, of course, by those who cross the border a lot for work and such).

Must have a passport or an enhanced driver license these days.

Does Canada welcome immigrants?

..from any country?or there are some ethnicities that are not welcomed?

1 person in 4 living in Canada right now was born elsewhere. They (we – I’m one of them) come from all over the world. We cannot, legally, discriminated against any ethnic, racial, or religious group. So, all are welcome – as long as you are going to contribute to Canadian society.

Yeah, Canada welcomes just about anybody who has required skills as.You can work temporarily helping bring in the harvest, though that’s below minimum wage, but the Jamaicans and Mexicans keep returning every year — it’s better pay than in their homeland.
Despite over 500 applicants for an average job, immigrants are welcome.Makes ya wonder… "they" say there are all these jobs — I’d like to know where they are!Hundreds of people apply for one job …Something just doesn’t add up.

Yes.Everyone is welcome in Canada, provided they’re not criminals or leeches.

I live in Toronto (5th largest city in North America) where 52% of residents were born outside Canada and 47% consider themselves visible minorities. My husband’s business partners and all their employees are immigrants (Pakistani, Chinese, Indian, Iranian, etc.).

I’m afraid I’m still laughing about one comment concerning winter temperatures.

The average daytime temperature in Toronto in November is 7C/45F, December 0C/32F, and January -2C/28F.Not quite that -30 claimed, but nice try. (laughing)

Yes, we accept immigrants from all over the world because our is shrinking and getting older. The government is supposed to pay for the standard and living health care for and the old citizens. The coming of immigrants will increase the number of employment in Canada which will provide the nation’s government with enough money to continue supporting citizens and to take care of it’s economy.

Yes it does welcome immigrants.
Multiple studies http://www.expatforum.com/canada/canadia?? http://www.visaplace.com/blog-immigratio??have found Canada to be the most-welcoming country in the world for immigrants.

Canada welcomes all immigrants, as long as they meet the criteria established by the Department of Immigration for approval and don’t try to illegally sneak into the country.

As long as you come here, work, don`t leach off our system complain about our country and expect that we owe you a living, then everythings fine.

after living and knowing ppl of all ethnic backgrounds you know who i find to be the least tolerant of others in canada…other new immigrants!!!

That’s the beauty of living in Canada; they welcome everyone !!

Open to all who want to make a positive contribution to life in this country

We are open to pretty much everyone willing to come here and become productive citizens.

it seems they do
such a shame winters
temperatures drop to minus 30 degrees
ooh ouch

How do I get a drivers license in Canada?

What are the steps? Do I have to take classes? I’m totally clueless on the subject. I live in Alberta if that makes a difference with anything.

This link might help you: http://www.servicealberta.gov.ab.ca/Driv??

If you have NEVER held a license before, you SHOULD take professional driving instruction, if only to get a good foundation of knowledge and experiencefor your future safety.

NO ONE is born knowing how to drive safely………It IS a learned SKILL.

A good companyis "Young Drivers of Canada " a national company that uses professional instructors and a step by step training program, bothin the class room and in car. They have a 40 year history of training drivers, and not just "young ones " either !

Toronto.

You go to the provincial driver’s licence office, write an exam and take a road test. Check in your phone book to find out where the office is in your town or city.

Check with a licensing office in your province

Summer work in Canada, What type of visa do i need?

So I want to go to Canada next summer with a friend. We will both be 18 by then and have finished school. After the summer we will be going to college. What type of visa would I need if I wanted to work there for the summer months? Also, what would the main things be that could stop me getting a visa and when would I need to apply for one? I have tried looking at some websites but they are confusing. Thank you.

You would need a working holiday visa.Only a very limited number of country’s citizens are eligible to participate in this program. The first link will take you to information on the working holiday visa, the second link will take you to a list of eligible countries.

A working visa of course. Try contacting the Canadian embassy or consulate nearest you.

I am neplese orgin but i am hongkong id holder can I settle in canada?

I am living in hongkong from past 5 years

You acceptance is NOT based on where you were born or what passport you have……..

It is a competition, and YOUR education and actual work skills are the determining factor, not where you come from. Every one has to score at least 67 points on the tests, to even be considered as a potential Immigrant to Canada. Your ability to speak, read and write ENGLISH or FRENCH fluently, is very important. If you cannot do that, your chances of being accepted are low.

As well , you must have employment skills that are "in demand " in Canada, to fill job vacancies here. WE don’t want or need people who are farmers or unskilled workers. WE DO want people who have a University degree, or who are a certified trades man with 5 years of actual working experience .

Here is the main Canadian GovernmentImmigration information website READ it carefully.

If you meet the requirements yes. The gov of Canada website has all the information you need to apply.

Word of advice, avoid immigration consultants or visa consultants. It’s not difficult filling out the forms and they can’t do anything for you that you can’t do yourself. No consultant can shorten the waiting time or guarantee you admission. There are a lot of scams out there and recently the Canadian gov has clamped down on the fraud. Don’t lose your hard earned money by falling for one of them. Go to the web site, read the requirements and fill out the applications yourself. It’s not hardGood luck.

You need to contact the nearest Canadian Embassy or consulate and ask about the proper immigration documentation and papers to fill out.

Northern Canadian cities/regions/towns that have a population?

And by population, I don’t mean like 28 people. I mean a smaller population, but one that definitely exists enough so that there are modern basics found – stores, restaurants, etc.

The farther north the better.

I live near Dawson City, Yukon, which has 1800 people year round, and about 6000 in Summer.Whitehorse is the capital, with 26,000 – it even has a McDonalds, and two Tim Horton’s!Inuvik, NWT, is also a larger community – a bit bigger than Dawson.Yellowknife is another good sized city.Iqaluit, Nunavut has about 8000.

There are many other communities in the North that have stores, restaurants, etc., but, these are the largest, and all will have a variety of these things. The most northerly of these would be Inuvik. You can drive to it on the Dempster Highway.

Whitehorse is the largest city in the Yukon territory with a population of just over 26,000.

Yellowknife is the largest city in the Northwest Territories with a population of just under 20,000.

These are the largest cities in Canada north of the 60th parallel.

Iqaluit s the capital of Nunavut, and has a population of about 6,000.It is located at 63??43??47??N 068??26??48??W.

Tell me ten things about Canada that affects you as an individual?

Question 4 fun… Tell me ten things about Canada that affects you as an individual?

Interesting question. Not sure I can come up with 10, but I’ll try.

1) Cultural Diversity. I love culture and languages, and being in a place where there are many different ethnicity is perfect for me. Because of it, I’ve developed a need to know more, to travel, and to learn about different cultures.

2) Our International Reputation. Okay, so I admit, we’re not all ‘nice-guys’ but I do love the fact that when I go overseas and someone asks me where I’m from, I can say ‘Canada’ and I’m more often than not given a warm welcome.

3) Geographical Diversity. Living in the prairies can be boring, but I love the fact that driving for just a few hours in any direction can change my surroundings almost entirely.

4) The ‘Stereotypes’. Canadians love hockey, beer, and maple syrup. Oddly enough, I do, and when people say "you’re such a Canadian" I just smile and nod. lol

5) Tim Hortons. I remember the moment me and my rugby team landed in Calgary after two weeks in NZ. Why? We all made a mad dash for the Tim Hortons there.

6) The Weather. Yup, I daresay I could live in both the arctic and the tropics, because living in Alberta, you see it all.

7) Our Tenancy Towards Humor. Again, not always true (less so in cities) but for the most part, people here seem to have at least some sense of humor.

8) Camping. If there is one thing I have learned, its that Canadians seem to do a lot more camping than the rest of the world. Percentage of the population wise, I’d guess that we have more citizens that have been camping at least once in their lifetime than anywhere else.

9) Quiet Pride. It showed during the Vancouver Olympics, and I hope it shows again.

10) Toques. No, it’s not a beanie, those have brims. And no, its not a cap, those have brims too. It’s a toque. ^_^

From my living in Ottawa;
1. the varying weather – not just seasonally but daily and sometimes even hourly
2. the almost monthly festivals of some kind – seriously, from Winterlude in January/February to the uncountable outdoor music events
3. The Alcatel-Lucent Sunday Bike day – it runs from the May long weekend to Labour Day in September. My summer is almost defined by how often I get to zoom out on the Sunday bike days.
4. Cross-country skiing – I actually really enjoy the cold winters we get and especially by heading out on x-c skis
5. the wide variety of people from different parts of the world who share our land, laws and ideals – we’re not all racist idiots
6. the hugely wide open skies – having spent a lot of time on the prairies many years back, I can attest to just how hugely gigantic the bright powder blue skies of the prairies are
7. our rich and varied history – go and visit Quebec City and you’ll see what I mean
8. Smarties
9. the preponderance of coffee shops – lots are Starbucks but also lots of Timmy’s, too.
10. the astounding amount of preparation needed to get properly dressed to go outside in January. I’ve always felt Canadians make better astronauts than anyone else because, for 3 to 4 months of the year, we have to dress like ‘em.

Hope this helps and thank you for asking such a neat question.

Which country IS BEST- Canada or Australia?

Hi everybody

I would like to study graduate program in the management field. My long term ambition is to get immigration and settle after completion of the course. But i am really confused about the country to choose for study.I would like to choose the country canada and australia. Could you please advice me to select the country for study in terms of the following parameters.

1.Easy to get immigration after completion of course.
2.Standard of living and facilities.
3.Living cost.
4.Employment after the course
5.Weather and friendliness of the people.

It would be really helpful for me to get advice from people of this forum .I will really appreciate reply from anybody.hope to hear from the people who are already in those counties.

1. Immigration to Canada is not easy. Period. If you study as a foreign student in Canada you are expected to return to your home country once your studies are done and from there you can start the hugely long application process.
2. Canada is a civilized country and so we have things like electricity, antibiotics and paved roads
3. Cost of living is entirely dependent on where in Canada you are. Cities like Vancouver and Toronto are very expensive to live in whereas places like Red Deer aren’t in comparison
4. There is no way to answer this question. Canada has more than enough management graduates so you would not qualify to immigrate on that basis alone.
5. Weather varies as does the friendliness of the people. Overall, Canadians are friendly but you may encounter pockets of people who aren’t. Please don’t forget that Canada is a very very large country so classifying people into neat little categories is not possible.

When do you have to arrive at camp edgewood?

For what, details please.

What does this shipping status mean?

What does the shipping status "Awaiting pickup by recipient as requested" mean on DHL? Dont say "Please contact customer service to get the shipment??s availability time and location" wish is what it sais on the DHL website, because that doesnt tell me what that means.

It means that you (or someone acting on your behalf) has asked them to hold the package for you to pick up. So you have to go there, with proper identification, and pick up the parcel

It means the recipient (person item is addressed to) has to pick up what needs to be picked up.Probably a good idea to take photo i.d with you when picking up.

Well, simple….it means it’s awaiting pickup by the recipient. No need to be a Philadelphia lawyer to figure that one out.
